This piece was inspired by the events that took place in the US and globally in 2020, when Black Lives Matter came to the forefront of people’s awareness. The media furore has died down now but we mustn’t forget, we must keep educating ourselves and calling people out when their actions or words are racist or bigoted. This figure represents loneliness, fear, wanting to hide away, self-protection, sadness - feelings that people of colour endure every day just because of the colour of their skin.

£30 from the sale of this sculpture will go to the civil rights organisation, NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).
